Heard about this place forever, finally got a chance to try it out. The eggs were a little bland, but everything else was crazy good. Home fries were very tasty, sausage gravy was amazing, and the prices were really fair, even though it's near offices. The clan chowder was bland, with little to no substance. This was below Campbell's quality, and had "can" taste all over it. Biscuits were a tad dry, but some people like them like that. Grits were, well- grits. Service was what you can expect in a fast paced diner catering to truckers and execs (weird combo, huh?). It's cash only there, so bring money to avoid an atm fee. Environment was fine, but our daughter was freezing. I can't stress enough, those potatoes were the saving grace for an otherwise average breakfast. Firm but soft, Smokey taste, and amazing with the gravy. 3.5 out of five, bumped up due to starchy goodness.

Ok. Typical Diner. Fast, cheap, greasy. So, why the four stars? We got phenomenal service, and that counts way more than the food in my book. I'm on vacation, I want everyone to be as laid back as me! My BF had a hard time choosing between bread, grits or corn muffin. It almost looked painful for him to choose! Ha! The waitress brought our food and an extra corn muffin and joked that she was worried about him after what was obviously, such a painful choice. She joked with us and kept our cups full! Fabulous!

My fiancee and I have three places we normally cycle around for breakfast/brunch on the weekends. Skyway Jack's is now the fourth joint. It's cash only, so come prepared. Once inside it has a wonderful down home feel. Menu has lots of options. I went for the country fried steak with home fries and a corn muffin. That is my standard dish for testing a place out and boy it was good! Best gravy I've had at a breakfast place. Flavorful and thick and not very salty. But the batter and steak lend the saltiness to the dish. Home fires are amazing. Red potatoes and onions baked to a soft perfection-- not crunchy. I highly recommend this place and I will certainly be visiting often.

I moved away for over ten years and my first trip back after that time was fantastic! Great service, everyone was friendly and kind even though the place was crazy busy. We sat at the bar so we didn't have to wait for a table. Our food came out cooked perfectly. I had the omelette (I hate brown omelettes, this one was cooked to perfection, not runny but not browned) with hash-browns and a biscuit, everything was super yum. My boyfriend had the biscuits and gravy and he was impressed by the portion size. After I got cash out of the ATM, I saw that they are now accepting credit cards. So that's good to know for my next visit.

This is truly a hole in the wall place. I was disappointed that Food Network rated this place as "great' breakfast restaurant. The service was good but the food was "ok". I always rate a good breakfast joint by their home fries potatoes. I found these to be a little slimy. I know, it doesn't sound appetizing, but they were. Nothing special about their omelets and the place it's pretty cramped.

This place is a legend in St Pete. If you want to eat with the locals then this is your place. Some would call it a greasy spoon, others a dive; it is eclectic for sure. Decorated with pigs, pigs and more pigs. There is counter seating and tables/booths. Something to note - they ONLY take cash, but do have an ATM. Open for breakfast and lunch, they have mid-week specials for $2.79, but even their normal prices are still on the cheaper side. You can pretty much get it all here in terms of home cooked southern/diner fare. There is standard and there is unique such as pizza omelet or pigs brains. The servers have all worked there for years and you will feel like you are at Mel's Diner with Flo, Alice and Vera. Enjoy!

My family and various friends have raved about this local institution for years ... Finally got to try it, and OMG it was as if they sprinkled some sort of magic into everything we ordered. Hand down the best breakfast I have ever had. Service was totally down home style, the waitress told us about popular choices and more. Note this place is cash only.

This place is a hole in the wall, but the good is great. The people are friendly. The portion sizes are hug and the price is right! One person can definitely split a plate. The corn bread muffins are a must try. You will not be dissapointed.

  • Steph G.

Looks can be deceiving! This "hole in the wall" has some scrumptious breakfast options! I had the bacon and cheese omelette with hashbrowns. Did NOT disappoint! Good stuff! Cash only. They have an ATM inside if necessary.

Absolutely love this place. Food is outstanding, waitresses are friendly and always on point. If you are in the area then I highly suggest that you stop in. One visit and you will be hooked. This unique stop is a great opportunity for a great meal and experience.

Every time we go to st Pete and stay the night we make a stop here, hands down a great breakfast place. Country ham steaks are something you can't find most places and theirs rock, salty, griddled to perfection. Always get a biscuit to go with anything and put some of the apple butter on it you will not be disappointed! My husband had the Jacks SOS today, (biscuits and sausage gravy) it tasted as good as my southern grandmother used to make. Just remember when you go it's cash only and it will most likely be a wait for a table. The space is tiny inside and the tables are close together which makes it a very friendly atmosphere. We talked to our neighbor tables while we waited for food. Great fast servers and food is plentiful and tasty!

  • Robert M.

Darn it! Food is the best...but.... Every time I go there with my wife we have too much food leftover. Today we decided to share a plate since we ate a late breakfast. Well, they charge $1.50 to share a plate!!! I questioned it and was told that it is that way no matter what, even if you do not need an extra plate and just eat off the same one. I have never seen this in my 50 years of life:( No credit cards accepted either:( Cash only:( Food A+ Service A+ Cash only C- Charge to share dinner E-

Skyway Jack's is a true Diner Dive. It looks rough on the outside and about the same on the interior. There is tackiness galore to be found on the walls, by the cash register and even on the menu (the "egg breasts" others have mentioned). The food however, is incredible. That is, if your waitress can get it right. This three star review goes to the crappy waitresses. Otherwise it would be 5 star. The last time I was in Skyway Jack's they told my Husband they were out of mashed potatoes (what??) and that they would bring him baked beans. He didn't seem to mind that his baked beans never arrived because he had his heart set on mashed potatoes, but I was offended. If we pay for food, I expect it to arrive. We also ate most of our meal without drinks and had to go to the register to pay since our waitress didn't bring our bill in a reasonable time. The previous experience I ordered chopped steak. I was brought a fried biscuit. I asked the waitress where my meat was and she looked confused. I told her what I ordered and she said she thought I said "fried biscuit" (something that is not on the menu, nor would anyone probably order). Needless to say, my Husband ate while I waited for 20 minutes for the correct meal. I have had some good experiences here, but they are becoming fewer. The food alone earns the 3 stars. A lot of the food is handmade and delicious. Just beware of the servers.

Hands down the best , freshest , tastiest breakfast I have had in St Pete. Great value too. I had eggs Benedict and my husband had pancakes. The eggs Benedict were sublime; excellent hollandaise, fresh and light, and the pancakes were fluffy and hot. Waitresses very friendly but über professional; everyone working together. Very kitschy and cash only but the tops for breakfast.

Southern breakfast diner with lots of character and reasonable prices. Note: CASH only

  • Thomas A.

Fact: Egg Illustrations on the waitress' breasts increase this review from 3 to 4 stars. Don't get me wrong, this ain't Hooters. Most of the waitresses are not "hot" per se...but this place has a tacky, fun sense of humor that's infectious. Having pictures of eggs capping the pendulous paps of the matronly waitress' t-shirts is part of that appeal. The interior of the place looks like something out of 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Breakfast'. The odd exterior (with giant waking-nightmare Humpty Dumpty) and bizarre window art add to the surreal feel. I wouldn't want to visit this place while on an acid trip. I may be wrong, but I think there's even a menu item on the wall that involves pig brains(?). The food is "diner style" good. Some weak spots, but overall a good value. I like the sausage pancakes best (they cook the sausage right into the cakes) - though the cakes themselves are a tad mealy. Everything I have had so far has not filled me with regret, so I count that as a positive. This place is a part of St Pete history, so the 4-star rating really reflects the full experience - I am, after all is said and done, "a fan". CASH ONLY though - that always makes me shake my head in disbelief. I would toss away a star on the review for being anti-commerce, but luckily the compelling egg-breasts saved it from the fires of perdition.

This wins my best hearty breakfast spot hands down. Everything is great from the blueberry pancakes to the scrapple. Ample portions. There's even scrambled eggs and brains for anyone adventurous. All of the staff are wonderful and chipper. You can tell that management makes this a good place to work. My family has been going here for the past eight years and seeing many of the same workers. Go there if you want to pig out and be happy.

  • Brett N.

Why 4 stars? Because this is down and dirty breakfast (without actually being dirty.) --- --- --- From the outside, it looks like a glorified Burger King. And from the inside, it's not much different. But this is no Bacon, Egg and Croissan'Wich, I can assure you. After doing my due-Yelp-diligence, I had to go with the hobo hash...and it made me the opposite of sad. For those of you heading to antonym.com , I'll save you the trouble - "happy" is the emotion I was exuding. I specifically enjoy finding good food in the St. Pete area, because I have come upon some bad luck on much of my hunting over the years. Unfortunately, it's usually a cold day in hell when I have enough energy to get out of bed early enough to have time to enjoy breakfast at a restaurant. That being said, next time hell is experiencing a nor'easter, I'll probably be at Jack's.

A true bit of local flavor. Real down home cooking and the fastest service I have ever seen! I thought the portions were huge, the plates of biscuits and gravy were enormous as were the steak and eggs - or whatever it was, smothered in gravy. I had breakfast there twice. The first time I had the eggs benedict which were o.k. Hollandaise was a bit heavy, but there was definitely a lot of it. The next day I tried the corned beef hash which was good as well. I got a corn muffin to go and that was awesome! I would definitely recommend this place, prices are very reasonable.

I love this place, my boyfriend and I used to come once a week (then we noticed our expanding pant sizes..... So now we come a couple of times a month! Totally worth the drive (takes 10-15 minutes) the biscuits and gravy is amazing!!! Their waffle is amazing too just don't get the strawberries on it unless you like the glaze. I do love their strawberry jelly though! Homemade and delicious :-)

What a great local breakfast spot. How can you not like a place where the sixty something year old waitresses are wearing shirts with a fried egg on each boob! Good home cooked food with a diner kinda feel. It's clear that they have a bunch of regulars as the staff greeted many folks by name. I had he hobo hash. Very good: eggs, cheese, onions, peppers, bacon and sausage scrambled together. My wife enjoyed her chili omelette as well. The portions were generous. Service was friendly but our coffee cups were not kept full. I know, a minor issue but pretty important at a breakfast place.

  • Kelly S.

The Country Fried Steak, 2 eggs, hash browns and corn muffin for only $7.99 was the best bang for my buck, and super delicious. The made-in-house apple butter on the moist corn muffin was an added bonus. Almost 5 hours later and I'm still full! Love this place, can't wait to go back.

Good, hearty breakfast food and not very expensive at all. There really isn't a bad item on the menu, they do everything exceptionally well.

I really need to write to Guy Fieri and tell him to mention this place on diners, drive ins and dives. This is an old school, classic dive. Not pretty at all but clean and AMAZING food! Like many older places do not expect to dine and pay with a card. This is a cash only place; yet they do have an ATM. What I love most about this place is that you get so much food for a cheap price. Do not make the mistake I make where I order so much because I think I will not feel satisfied because they have big portions. The chocolate chip pancakes are amazing. Have not tried lunch foods here. They have daily specials and they close around 2 pm. This is definitely a must visit if you are in the south Saint Pete area. In fact, I wish I were there now! HA HA!

I'm from California so there are lots of awesome breakfast spots. However, I've tried a few places in St. Pete area and I have to say this is the best out of all those places. Portions are decent, service was pretty good.I did think their logo was a bit odd.

I was staying at a hotel nearby and they recommended this fantastic, kitschy, greasy spoon. I had the Hobo Hash (scrambled eggs over potatoes, bacon, onions, peppers and cheese), which comes with a biscuit and sausage gravy. I left that with that "I think a brick is in my stomach" feeling that only comes from eating something that is 90% lard. I happen to love that feeling. There are several glowing reviews and articles posted near the door. Food Network magazine named this the best breakfast in Florida. Rick Bragg said he'd want their biscuits and gravy as part of his last meal. The downside: it IS crowded and you basically sit on top of the table next to you, unless you're in a booth. Also, our waitress was very sweet so did not get a grumpy old lady as many other Yelpers reported. Kind of wish I did...

  • Mike S.

Agreed, this is a local treasure. Old-fashioned, unadorned diner that specializes in hearty breakfasts. Very popular with fishermen headed to/from the bridge or boating. All the standard eggs, sides, pancakes plus some old alternative options, like hash, scrapple, etc. Best for dropping in when headed south to cross the Sunshine Skyway bridge. It attracts both loyal regulars of all ages and some tourists. Cash is gladly accepted from all. You will not mistake this for a trendy, upscale place to be seen, but you will get a warm belly-full.

  • Dana S.

I love Skyway Jacks! It is a perfect breakfast/ brunch place. I pass it all the time since I live in St. Pete so I decided to go one day, and I've been going back ever since. Not everything on the menu is a hit but for the most part everything I get is delicious. I love the corn beef has and my favorite thing there are there home fries. YUM! I would go there just for their home fries to be honest. You should definitely give it a try. There sweet tea is so good too.

  • Terry G.

This place is awesome! Great spot for breakfast-they have this apple cinamon butter stuff that is absolutely to die for. The ham and eggs with hash-browns is by far my favorite here. If you can get in before 8 am the have some really good deals!

  • Stefanie G.

What a great place! No fuss, good food, friendly service and a convenient location for anyone on their way to the airport. Felt like a local at 6am and loved the coconut pancakes!! Lots of coffee, delicious southern biscuits and home fries. Do not miss this breakfast spot!!

  • michael s.

Hard to imagine this was a 24 hour food shack next to the Skyway Bridge back in 1976, catering to fishermen and locals. The location has changed and they are only open from 5a.-3p.m. but the food and and atmosphere are still the same. Good! Had the Smoked Sausage Breakfast with a GIANT sausage grilled to perfection alongside two eggs, grits and a biscuit so crumbly good. My friend had Pork chops, Hashed Beef, cooked apples and biscuits with gravy. Lordy! We were happily stuffed. The place is jumping on the weekends but if there's just two of you, one can find a seat quite readily. It's the party of 4,5 or 6 which may have to wait. Great staff, they are friendly and efficient. They make you want to come back. And the prices are very reasonable as well.

    (5)
  • Kandice C.

Never had a bad meal here. My husband grew up going to the old Skyway Jacks and we frequent the south side location about once a month or so. I like the atmosphere and that the staff never seems to change. Great local spot.

  • Dominic S.

Cash only! That is the only downfall so far. If you want fast, cheap, and honestly pretty good food then this is your hole in the wall.

An above average place for breakfast. Great atmosphere and good service. Very busy, but the wait is worth it an wasn't long. I will come back.

It looks like I don't even need to write a review with all the 4 and 5 star reviews on this place, but I suppose I can add that my new favorite food of all time is at Skyway Jacks. The pineapple coconut pancakes are a plate sized, fluffy, sex in your mouth delight of a breakfast that should be outlawed for, what I assume, would be the most calorie ridden food on earth. However, I've learned I cannot live life without these pancakes. No one should.

  • Austin K.

From the outside we hesitated, but this gem was awesome. We all enjoyed the home cookin and I would totally go back. Breakfast was quick and delicious. Appearance and aesthetics could use some work, but food was too good not to give 5 stars.

  • Christopher S.

I'd heard about it and finally got a chance to hit it! As I perused the menu, the brains jumped out at me, and I smacked it back into the menu. I wanted to try the salted aged ham but the server advised me it was tough and salty like jerky. She advised the smoked ham and I took it. Man, what a lot of food. The ham was excellent, corn biscuit a bit dry, potatoes very nice, and the pancake average. I know the servers were all former 60's headbanger groupies and had been through the wars. :) A unique place and I will have to try it one more time in the near future...(to be continued)

Go for the food, NOT the service. The inside of the restaurant is kitschy with the pig theme, but still homey as a hole-in-the-wall diner usually is. The food was prepared well and fast. The pancakes are absolutely delicious- the sweetest I've ever had. Our waitress, however, not so much. It was a displeasure to talk to any of the people who worked there, even to ask where the restroom is (it's in the back.) A smile wasn't returned from a single person and it seemed like anyone who worked there did NOT want to be there. Our waitress dropped off the bill without a word while I was mid-bite, not even finished with my meal. Even asking for a box to take the rest home was a hassle. Normally poor service doesn't affect my experience of a restaurant (especially if the food is good) but this time I just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. Overall, I recommend going for good-tasting, cheap food as long as you don't mind feeling like you're not wanted there by anyone.

  • Jacob H.

I went in seeing nothing but phenomenal reviews but almost left without paying. How does it take an hour to under cook the eggs, the steak and the potatoes? The place is small and crammed together with one working high chair. The waitress was off putting or simply absent. You'd never believe it reading this but I actually hate complaining about restaurants and always give mom and pop shops a huge amount of leeway but this was terrible. If the bust boy reads this, you were nice. Thanks for making my baby daughter laugh and trying to make our experience better.

Arrived here on Sunday around 5:30 AM after leaving Tampa International. It was only restaurant open that also had good reviews so we checked it out. Upon entering hit the ATM and then settledinto a well-worn comfy booth for a steaming hot cup o joe. Menu is extensive so you'll be ready for second cup o joe after ordering & waitress will take care of you. Great specials from 5-8 AM M-F would have gotten my 2 eggs, bacon & sliced tomatoes for $2.59! Yummy food & Great service.

5.0/5.0 The indisputable best place for breakfast in St. Petersburg! Come hungry, and if you're a calorie counter just stay home. The portions are generous and the staff is neighborhood friendly. Ordering the smoked sausage and home fries is a must! Most items on the menu are homemade, including the strawberry jam. Their quality staff, service, and food have remained consistent over the years. Its a cash only establishment, so be sure to bring cash and your appetite. Skyway Jack's is a St. Pete tradition and well deserving of its legendary status!

I love this place for breakfast. Classic, quirky old-Florida styling with the attitude to match. You're greated with a huge menu with just about any breakfast you can imagine and everything looks great. You may as well close your eyes and point and I'm sure you'll end up with something delicious (I went with the "Hobo Hash" though. It's a mix of eggs, potato, bacon, onions, pepper, and cheese served with biscuits and gravy). Is it healthy? Not at all, so don't come here expecting it. It's just damn good, greasy breakfast food. The way hangovers were meant to be treated. Protip: If you're trying for breakfast on a Saturday or Sunday, expect a decent wait. The plae can get busy.

Classic Florida breakfast...2 eggs up, Country Fried Steak with Cheesy grits and a corn muffin. Absolutely yummy! Highly...recommend!

This place is amazing. A pressed Cuban sandwich and homemade meatloaf with eggs in the same order. If you are counting Weight Watchers points, don't bother. If you are looking for good home cooked food at great prices in an informal, relaxed atmosphere, this is it. Cash only.

My family and I love having breakfast Skyway Jack's. I really like the Philadelphia Scrapple. The service is not consistently good but we deal with it because the food is really good. Bring cash! They do not take Credit Cards, which sucks.

  • Virginia G.

It's an institution alright..One that should have been boarded up and closed long ago. Got dragged in here by some well meaning friends who unfortunately think bigger is better. (As a disclaimer I'll add they've recently moved to Pasco, by choice!) Ordered just a normal breafast, no pig brains or pork chops at 7am, just eggs over easy and home fries. Hubby added bacon to his. Everything came out the same color. You now, the color of a filthy grill that never gets scraped down that way too many varieties of dead animal carcas have hit. Needless to say, we pushed the food around the plate but never actually ate it. Sure, they have big breakfasts, ask any of the 300lb Bubbas eating here every morning.(lovingly called regulars) The servers are surly and have obviously been around the block more than a time or two, or four. Like eating in a dirty establishment with huge people in flip flops who haven't had a pedi EVER? Then come here!! You'll love it, then go shopping at Wal Mart. The rest of us, not so much.

My favorite place in St. Pete! The waitresses are generally nice and the prices are great... and the food is fantastic! Try the banana chocolate chip pancakes. SO incredibly good. The grits are great, too.

I was visiting from out of town and missed breakfast at the hotel. I went on yelp and searched for a decently reviewed, nearby restaurant that was still serving breakfast. I was hoping to find something like FirstWatch. I don't understand how this restaurant has been rated 4 stars....the quality of food is poor. I am not a picky eater but I could not finish my meal. I find it very hard to understand how anyone could mess up breakfast but this place did the job. My eggs were undercooked, the grits had no flavor or salt, the potatoes were slimy, the bacon had a weird aftertaste and the gravy tasted like it came from a can. The only thing that was okay was the biscuit...but even that I couldn't finish. It wasn't even worth complaining about since i didn't just have one complaint, everything was horrible and there was no fixing it. We paid our bill and got the heck out of there. I felt so sick after eating there but somehow managed to eat a banana about 20 minutes later to settle my stomach. I would NEVER eat there again, nevertheless recommend it.

My earlier review was when I was a new Yelper. Plus... I had not been to the St Pete Diner which is better than Skyway Jack any day of the week. Skyway is good eats, simple diner food, and cranky old ladies who all smoke too much. It is an atmosphere or regulars who all know each other. It is good breakfast comfort food when you need it. I will go back, because it is so conveniently close to my place... but if you are not in a hurry, I recommend the St Pete Diner over Skyway Jack's any day of the week.

When I come home on leave from the army, my dad always treats me to skyway jacks. Decent prices, homey atmosphere and large portions make this place a good choice. Breakfast is always the best meal anyways.

Unbelievable! While staying in St Pete Beach, we drove here every morning for breakfast. Yeah, definitely a "dive" but for all the right reasons! The waitstaff was extremely friendly and we even met the owners who were very helpful (we thought they were just guests too until we met them again the following morning). Tacky but clean and the food was to die for! One morning our son didn't feel like breakfast and ordered chicken tenders instead and they serve anything off their menu anytime and he loved them! Them will custom order anything you want like pancakes with pineapple and bananas! Their banana pecan pancakes still make my mouth water when I think about them! They were beyond better than any banana bread I've ever had and they're huge!! The staff is more than happy to supply you with utensils and condiments for your to-go items, just ask. Prices are cheap and they offer a wide variety of food items! Something for everyone! The strawberries that they put on pancakes and shortcake are out of a dream! They're big and are soaked in this sweet glaze! I could have just ordered and ate cups of them our whole trip! CASH ONLY but they do have an ATM in the lobby. They run amazing specials Monday-Friday morning before 8am (like your basic eggs, toast and bacon for $2.99). You can call first and they can have your order ready for pick-up when you arrive.

I love good ol' mom and pop breakfast places, and this one takes the cake. Believe me... this place looks pretty sketch on the outside, but don't you worry. It's legit. The inside is tackily decorated and definitely looks like it hasn't been updated since it opened, which I'm completely ok with. If it isn't broke, don't fix it. The food was soo good! Everything from the potatoes to biscuits to pancakes to omelets. I haven't had anything I didn't enjoy. The service there is one of a kind. They treat you like they've known you forever. Since I just moved to Tampa a couple weeks ago, I'll definitely be returning to this place. It'll also be my go-to breakfast place for when people come and visit me.

Like its younger brother skyway jack's II this place doesn't dissapoint. You can tell this ones the original though. It had that older feel the other one was trying to achieve but could only be achieved with 30+ yrs of serving up some down home not so good for you breakfast. I had myself the hobo hash, that came with a biscuit and some sausage gravy. Probably the best biscuit I've had in the area thus far. The Hash was on point but i thought they slided me on the portion a little bit. I was expecting monstrous, and i got adequate. Overall this place is a staple for breakfast, and if you like diners that serve up some greasy great food then you'll love this place aswell. I give it 4 stars like the other just cause ive had 5 and its not quite 5, but its damn good.

  • Lindsay H.

You know you've arrived at the Skyway Jack when you notice the big human size Rooster outside. The place is always full and it resembles a greasy diner. The pancakes are my favorite. I've never been here for any other meal other than breakfast. I'm pretty sure they open super early, like 6am, for the hungry fishermen in the area. 3 stars because the place is sometimes too crowded for comfort and it can be a little dirty with the constant flow of people in the mornings. Although it's not located that close to the Skyway Bridge, I think there's a story behind that. Something like the original one burned down? If anyone knows the story I'd love to hear it.

AMAZING is the first word that comes to mind when your breakfast entree is presented. Of course that is only based on the appearance of the generous portions. Once you get your fork into action a whole new line of adjectives fill your mind. The combination of some of the best food in town accompanied by good service and a crazy atmosphere all add up to make this place a winner. I can't believe they haven't been featured on Food Network! I can't wait to get back there.

I just got back from my first breakfast at Skyway Jack's. From the moment I walked into the dimly lit dining room covered with cartoon pigs of all kinds, I knew it was special. The menu is huge, with unusual choices- scrapple, pig brains, potato-hamcakes. Each table has dark, sweet apple butter for your toast or giant biscuits. The waitresses are friendly and wear slightly disturbing shirts. Although it was busy, the service was quick and efficient. And the food was outstanding. I wasn't bold enough to try the big brains, but I did go for hamcakes. A patty of onions, potatoes and chunks of country ham is lightly breaded and fried, served with a side of horseradish mustard sauce- absolutely delightful. You get two with a choice of grits, tomato slices or baked apples and a biscuit or toast. To be honest, I was not impressed with baked apples, but I should have probably chosen the grits anyway. If you want something slightly unusual and completely delightful for breakfast, head to South St. Pete on hwy 19. Don't forget to get your picture taken with Humpty Dumpty.

Tried the pig brains in my scarmbled eggs because I havent had it that way in many, many years... Grandma did a much better job with it as these pig brains were obviously frozen and thawed - freezer burn and all ! The other breakfast foods appeared to be appetizing. Be sure to order the pancakes so that you have something to soak up the pools of grease !

My favorite breakfast in St. Pete. Kick ass place. Sometimes can be crowded, but if you catch it at the right time, you will be in and out. That's not the point though, it is the great food. huge menu but i stick to a few things like the breakfast pie, hobo hash, biscuits and gravy, chicken fried steak all wonderful, cheap, and huge portions. Like most good places it's cash only, but they do have an ATM. Oh, i also think its cool that they have PIG BRAINS, for a Bizzare Foods fan thats exciting. I thought it was one of the worst things I've ever tried, but i am really glad I did, cause its great for a conversation.

Wow, this place is fantastic for breakfast! My family (my wife, 3 kids and I) were visiting the area and stopped in for breakfast about 10am on a Saturday. We had to wait about 10 minutes, but afterwards were seated and had a friendly waittress. Breakfast was fantastic - there was something for everyone and it was so good we came back Sunday. Portions are large, coffee is great and quickly refilled. If I lived here, I'd be eating here every week!

I know this is a St Petersburg landmark and there are always crowds there, food is cheap but truly mediocre. Cant even classify it as a greasy spoon which I like. This is more like a lard vat.

Decent breakfast, thick grits, Country Crock not butter, sort of a greasy spoon with local character. Friendly staff and convenient if you're heading south on US 19.

Not what it used to be... since Jack passed away and Carol sold out... too bad... Old "southsiders' remember when

Oh my sweet sweet lord I love this place. Amazingly kitschy, big portions, the best blueberry pancakes, and beer in the morning. It's always an interesting crowd [a mix of truckers, seniors, families, and Eckerd students working off that Kappa Karnival buzz], and the cranky old lady waitresses that Blake alludes to are there in full force. If you're lucky you'll get the Butterfly Lady, complete with gaudy butterfly barrettes. Be aware that they don't take cards [although there is an atm inside], and tends to close before 3.

This is a local home town feel breakfast & lunch spot. When you pull in you know it's been a local eatery for quiet a few decades. The exterior shows many years of age but don't let that turn you away. When you walk in its got a country home town feel. The staff are quiet helpful and super friendly. We went on a Sunday so we had to wait but it went by super fast. We had to try some of the favorites the other people waiting had told us about. We are a family of four so everyone got something different. After a short wait for the food to arrive, forks were being passed around and arms were reaching across each other to snatch a bite of something different and tasty. We had the pancakes, French toast, cholesterol free omelette and the hobo hash. Pancakes we light fluffy and sweet. The French toast is like I make it at home, sweet & very eggy (yum). Surprisingly my cholesterol free omelette was very tasty. That was made with egg whites, onions, peppers, tomatoes and potatoes. The potatoes I think added a different level of flavor and depth in the omelette, something a healthy eater can appreciate since it didn't taste like the standard egg white offering. My husbands hobo hash was the table favorite. The smokiness of the meat with all that cheese and onions were the bomb!!! The corn muffin was light and sweet and the biscuits and gravy were just like an old southern grandma would make. We all overstuffed ourselves to the max. Can you say food coma? Well that happened shortly after we left. So the food was the bomb and the people were nice and all for $28 (not including tip) for a family of 4. That is a huge saving from the normal $40 for breakfast we usually spend. This is a hike from where we live but make no mistake, we will be back and back and back again!!!

Average breakfast place in the hood. I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon and a biscuit. The eggs were ok but not soft and fluffy. Just kind of poorly made. The bacon was just ok and how can you screw up bacon? It was overcooked on one end and raw on the other. Not horrible tasting, but far from great tasting bacon. The biscuit was so dry. Like so dry it would've disintegrated had I thrown it against the wall. The only thing that separates three stars from two stars was the service. Great, friendly server who knew what she was doing. However, I seriously doubt I'll be back.

Great little home town breakfast joint. There is nothing fancy about this place, but it is quite welcoming and the food and service was great. I had heard they served scrapple here, so having never tried it, I had to order some. I also tried the hobo hash as it was highly recommended. Both items were very tasty. The scrapple reminded me of cornbread mixed with breakfast sausage, then fried into a patty. Hobo hash was quite appetizing as well. Service was quick and friendly and their prices were very reasonable. I look forward to returning for sure.

Good, basic breakfast! The only gripe is that the corned beef hash is from a can. Not homemade. The plain pancake is heaven. They give a lot of food for good prices. Hole-in-the-wall, diner breakfast place. AWESOME SERVICE! The staff are SUPER FRIENDLY!!!

The place is awesome, been there 3 times in 2 weeks. The choices are endless, and the opinions are all across the board! The staff is great and friendly and the food is so good! Will definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone!

O my goodness! Such a hidden gem! We stopped for breakfast one morning before fishing and I'm so glad we did! It is a little hole in the wall but has amazing breakfast I got the Apple a day. I was cinnamon apples, sausage and a cornbread muffin. The serving size for the price is insane! You get so much food for the menu prices not to mention its good home cooking! Our server was nice but the food and quantity speaks for itself. If in the area you must stop by!

This is a cool little hole in the wall. I probably would not have stopped in but I had been told about this place. Walking into the joint you can quickly tell it is going to be a good experience. They have all their special on the walls which helps you take in the sights of the restaurant. I ordered the fried chicken breakfast special for $7.95. For the price it was well worth it, even though the chicken was REFRIGERATOR COLD!!! You can definitely tell they pre fry the chicken ahead of time and then put it in the fryer to heat it up. So the "FRESH" is not truly fresh! The meat was cooked all the way through but the insides were cold so hence my assumption it is precooked. The coating was tasty and I have had cold chicken before so it did not bother me. But other customers might not be so happy. The biscuits were good and the homemade jam on the table added to the biscuit All in all the prices were extremely reasonable and the portion sizes were plentiful.

Skyway jacks won't win any awards for most beautiful restaurant but what they may lack in appearance, they more than make up for in food quality, portion size, and service. Our waitress was awesome. The food was filling & tasty. I'll be back

Great brunch place! This is a restaurant well known to the locals. Warning! It is cash only, but they do offer an ATM on site. I recommend coming prepared so you don't have to worry about arm fees. This is truly a "dive" with diner style options. The walls (and outside decor) are filled with whimsical pigs and country style knick knacks. My favorite is the eggs Benedict, served in a classic "homestyle" way. Comes with home fried potatoes (these can be a bit greasy). I have also tried the chicken and dumplings. They are quite delicious! It's pretty easy to tell they are made from scratch!

The food looked and tasted good. But I lost all appetite after pulling not one but two hairs out of my food. I have worked in restaurants for ten years so I never send food back but I will never be back after that.

Anyone who says this place is not good judges it by the silverware or something the food is the bomb I eat there at least once a week the only issue I have ever had is the mayor overdo the eggs if he had a hard night the service is good the fried taters awesome the biscuits and gravy sweet I don't know what to say but I would recommend anyone go great value for the money never been let down

Awesome breakfast place. Everything I've tried on the menu has not let me down. The biscuits and gravy are my favorite. The chocolate chip pancakes are also really good. It's cash-only but they have an ATM inside.

Perfect after an early morning of fishing. Hole-in-the-wall joint that's been around for years. You'll find loyal locals here every time you stop in. CASH ONLY (ATM at the front). Cool decor and dive-y atmosphere. The Hobo Hash is my favorite for breakfast. Their salads are just iceberg lettuce and veggies, but they make up for it with a heaping serving of whatever meat/cold salad goes with it. (i.e. MOUNTAIN of potato salad or chicken salad.) Family favorite and I stop in every time I'm in the area for breakfast.

You need to go here at least once because it is an institution in south St. Pete. It is funky and has items on the breakfast menu that you won't find anywhere else. It is the opposite of a chain restaurant. That alone is a joy. Unfortunately, the food is just good. It is not excellent, just good enough. The same can be said about the service. Go about once a year and you will be glad you did. It is an experience worth having annually, but you won't want the food weekly.

This place has the best breakfast is St. Pete,Tampa even I can't cook my own breakfast this good. They give you huge portions of delicious food. Their home-fries are amazing. I am addicted to their sausage gravy (NOT CANNED!!!!) and homemade biscuits. The wait staff are friendly and despite this place always being slammed you get your food within 10 minutes hot off of the grill. Any great breakfast establishment is based on who they have in the kitchen and they have some real superstars back there...I wish I could give them more stars.

So I've been going to Skyway Jack's since it at the base of the Skyway. With the death of Jack and later Carol, who sold to current owner, the food has always been consistently good. Their potatoes are the bomb. The Texas Chilli omelette always satisfies. Little kids love the chocolate chip pancakes.

I loved this place! The best kind of diner, with incredibly friendly staff and great food. I had the breakfast pie, delightful, and my hubby had the Mexican skillet that was also delish and a biscuit with gravy. All yummy! Can't wait to go back and try more. They only accept cash, but have an atm inside (the atm has a $2.75 service fee, plus whatever your bank might charge you)

We loved this place! Worth the wait! New years special hog jowls rice black eye peas greens and oh yes the yummy corn muffin - all great! Hubby had the steak & eggs w potatoes and oh yea got the muffin - all great! This is not your typical diner. ..unique dishes along with the standard fare makes this place special. You feel like you've gone back in time cause of the decor but it's back to a delicious place. Enjoy!

You won't find a better diner. I reserve 5stars for amazing places, so 4 is the best for diner food in my opinion. Cash only, classic diner feel similar to lenny's in Clearwater. Great staff super friendly you can tell they like their job. Huge menu so you are bound to find something to eat. Weekday specials are rediculously cheap. Food comes out extremely fast and in huge portions. Service is top notch, tables turn quick, in and out on our way to the airport. Not amazing food, but good food that will fill you up and get you on your way.

Best breakfast in Pinellas County, by far the best bisquits & sausage gravy. Home fries are also excellent, little spicy like it should be, dont add pepper till you taste it, opens st 500 AM, also open for lunch. Dont pass it up.

The food was delicious! Had the steak skillet and coconut and pineapple pancake. I would come again. Would have gotten 5 stars but the service was slow and other tables got their food before us.
